If your topic is taken, you can still share your new ideas; just edit the existing article on that topic to improve it, instead.

Look at the articles featured on the home page to get an idea of how comprehensive an article should be. If you don’t know much more about the topic you started, that’s okay - you can research it or find someone who could help! Here are some good things to aim for: Does your article have many steps? Does each step have 2-4 sentences? Does each step start with a verb? Is it well sourced using reputable, neutral sources? Does it tell the reader something that other articles on the web don’t? Are you writing from a neutral and non-promotional angle? For tech articles: Did you include screenshots so that others can find where to click or what to type?

Leave a note with a URL and saying that you’ve expanded the article for the Article Review Team. This is staffed by friendly volunteers who will typically get back to you within a day or two. Ask our community manager Jayne. She can get a little busy at times but will be happy to help you when she can.

If you want to work on the article while you wait, it can help to check out the Writer’s Guide and formatting guidelines to get a better idea of all of the requirements for a wikiHow article. wikiHow’s Boosters are often happy to help with those details, but if you want a quick promotion, it helps to get everything ready to go.
