Apple is offering an Apple Music trial for six months to customers who own specific Apple products and who have never had an Apple Music subscription before.

Keep reading to find out how to get Apple Music for free for six months.

Apple Is Offering a Free Apple Music Trial to Eligible Customers

As of September 20, 2021, Apple is offering a free Apple Music trial for six months with purchase of an eligible AirPods or Beats product. The free period is available to all AirPods and Beats owners, regardless of when you bought these headphones.

The offer applies to these eligible AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, or Beats headphones:

AirPods (second-generation) AirPods Pro AirPods Max Powerbeats Pro Powerbeats Beats Solo Pro Beats Studio Buds

If you own any one of the devices mentioned above and have never been an Apple Music subscriber, then you qualify for the six-month trial. Existing subscribers or Apple One subscribers are not eligible for the free Apple Music trial.

How to Get Apple Music’s Free Trial

Apple is prompting existing customers who qualify by calling their attention to the promotion.

For instance, if you purchased AirPods Pro a while back but only just updated to iOS 15, you may have seen the following message on your device’s Settings page after updating your software: “Apple Music Free for 6 Months”.

To redeem the offer, you will need to connect your eligible headphone to an Apple device that has the latest iOS or iPadOS software available after September 20, 2021. After pairing your headphones, simply launch the Apple Music app on your device.

But this free trial isn’t available indefinitely—If you’ve just purchased a new pair of headphones, you have up to 90 days to redeem the offer after first pairing your new headphones to a device. Existing owners have up to 90 days from the time that they upgraded to the latest iOS version.

What Happens When Your Free Apple Music Trial Ends?

When your free trial period is over, you’ll have to pay to continue using Apple Music like everyone else, as the subscription will renew at the standard rate of $9.99 per month. If you don’t want to pay for the subscription, you can simply cancel it.

Apple Is Betting on Apple Music

Nowadays, free trials are few and far between. Not only is Apple being generous by offering qualifying customers a free Apple Music trial, but to offer it for six months is quite unusual.

This suggests that Apple may be confident that those who use the six-months free trial might actually opt to stay on the service and pay for the Apple Music subscription after their free trial ends.
