The new cherry blossom trees spawn the new crafting material: Cherry Blossom Petals. These can be found floating in the breeze nearby cherry blossom trees around players’ islands during springtime. Players on the southern hemisphere can travel to islands on the northern hemisphere to snatch these exclusive crafting materials.

To gather these lovely materials, players simply need to use any kind of bug net. Unlike bugs, the petals won’t flee from or chase the player and can simply be scooped up in a net. There are 14 total DIY recipes that require these petals and players wanting some spring furniture will want to craft these as soon as possible.

These recipes can be found via balloon presents and message bottles that wash ashore. Many of these items are gorgeous, but will probably only be able to be crafted while the cherry blossoms bloom, as cherry blossom petals cannot be caught at any other time. Players wishing to get these hot items will want to stock up on as many cherry blossom petals as possible.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the trees that become cherry blossom trees are hardwood trees. Players wishing for more cherry blossoms to spawn will want to plant as many cherry blossom trees as possible on their island. Random islands also spawns cherry blossom petals as well, so they can be caught there as well.

By eating fruit, players can use their shovels to completely uproot trees, including cherry blossom trees, and place them in their inventory. Players wanting a quick way to increase the number of trees on their island can use this method to take trees from random islands and bring them to their own.

While no mythical cherry blossom petal island has been discovered, players are sure to want to stock up on these materials.
