TapTap solves this dilemma and offers a safe platform with additional benefits and features to boot. You can find many already-existing games from the Google Play Store, along with a few exclusive titles to the app. Here’s how to use it.
What Is TapTap?
TapTap is a third-party app store that functions similarly to the Google Play Store on Android. You can create an account, download apps and games, and leave comments and reviews on any titles on the app.
One of the features that makes it unique is its list of exclusive titles. Many are only available for download on the store, but for some, you can sideload APKs on Android from other third-party websites. Some games from the app also require a TapTap account to play online multiplayer, but most allow you to log in with your Google account.
TapTap isn’t available on the Google Play Store, so you’ll have to head to the website to download it.

What Exclusive Games Can You Get on TapTap?
It’s worth mentioning that game developers are allowed more freedom when hosting apps on the TapTap app. TapTap isn’t as strict with titles, meaning some will have less censorship and more payment methods than those hosted on the Google Play Store.
Some examples from the full list of TapTap exclusives include the following:
T3 Arena Torchlight: Infinite Sunless City Tales of the Neon Sea
How to Install and Set Up TapTap
First, download the app and tap the notification when it’s finished. You might get a prompt asking for permission to install apps from unknown sources on your Android browser. To avoid the prompt, or set it up before installing the app, head to Settings > Apps > [your browser] > Install Unknown Apps > Allow from this source.
If you skip this step, you’ll get a series of notifications when you try to download it, starting with one saying that the file might be harmful. Tap Download anyway > Settings > Allow from this source. Once you’ve downloaded the APK, you can tap the notification to begin the installation. Next, you have to create a TapTap account.
Create a TapTap Account
Upon opening the app, you’ll see a login screen with two options. You can log in quickly with your Google account or sign up with an email account. After signing up, you’re prompted to choose a profile name and profile picture, and have the option to disclose your gender.
Afterward, TapTap requests that you choose up to six genres to tailor results to your preferences. The final step involves picking three or more games to find relevant titles once you’re logged in. And that’s it, you’re good to go!
You might get a few more prompts when you first try to download a game, like giving TapTap access to your storage to save downloads, and allowing it to install apps from unknown sources. Just follow the onscreen instructions to accept these.
TapTap: An App Store Worth Trying
A platform with fewer restrictions is a dream for many modern developers. TapTap hosts titles that the Google Play Store might otherwise limit or block. Best of all, the installation process for games on the platform is intuitive and easy to follow.
TapTap is just one of many replacement app stores you can use on Android. Some of them offer real value, both in terms of privacy and enabling you to bypass some of the restrictions Google places on what apps it is willing to offer.
