President Joe Biden wants 70 percent of U.S. adults to have received at least one shot of a vaccine by July 4, and to encourage more people to get vaccinated, Anheuser-Busch is offering all adults over 21-years-old a $5 virtual debit card to spend on a beer, seltzer or non-alcoholic Anheuser-Busch product.
All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself at your favorite place to drink a beer - whether it’s a bar, in your backyard or anywhere else - to MyCooler.com/Beer. You won’t need to provide proof of your vaccination, but the giveaway won’t begin until more people have received the shot. It’s open to most U.S. residents, but not those in Alabama, California or Texas.
The beer giveaway will start once the 70 percent goal has been reached, which could be sooner rather than later as 63 percent of U.S. adults have already been partially vaccinated, according to The New York Times.
The offer will end seven days after the goal is reached.
When applying for the virtual debit card, you will need to provide your name, address and email address, as well as your date of birth. You’ll also be asked to create a password to register.
Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch, explained the reasoning behind the plan in a statement on Wednesday.
“At Anheuser-Busch, we are committed to supporting the safe and strong recovery of our nation and being able to be together again at the places and with the people we have missed so much. This commitment includes encouraging Americans to get vaccinated, and we are excited to buy Americans 21+ a round of beer when we reach the White House goal,” Doukeris said.
“We pride ourselves on stepping up both in times of need and in times of great celebration, and the past year has been no different. As we look ahead to brighter days with renewed optimism, we are proud to work alongside the White House to make a meaningful impact for our country, our communities and our consumers.”
President Biden touted the giveaway on Wednesday, though he is teetotal.
“That’s right: Get a shot, have a beer,” Biden said. “We need everyone across the country to pull together to get us over the finish line.”
“I promise you, we can do this,” he said.
Anheuser-Busch has more than 120 facilities throughout the country. Some of its brands include Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob ULTRA and Stella Artois.
