Trainers already know how thrilling it is to hunt and capture shiny Pokemon in the game, but in Mystery Dungeon DX, there are no trainers. Instead, players control a Pokemon of their choice and build a team of Pokemon that rescue other helpless Pokemon in the world. Unlike the mainline games, shiny Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon DX have boosted stats which makes them more powerful than their regular variants. Capturing doesn’t work in the traditional way either, instead of throwing Pokeballs to capture Pokemon, all players have to do is beat the Pokemon, and the beaten Pokemon will decide whether it wants to join the rescue team or not.

How to Get Shiny Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon DX

In Mystery Dungeon DX, there are 27 different shiny Pokémon available for capturing. Players can randomly encounter any one of these 27 shinies when exploring different caves and dungeons in the game. Some Shiny Pokemon are only found in specific named locations scattered all over the map. Encountering a shiny is still a game of chance, so all players can do is head over to a specific dungeon and hope to meet a shiny Pokemon. Here’s a list of all the known locations of shiny Pokemon, but this does not mean the shiny variant will always spawn in there.

Aipom (Solar Cave) Ambipom (Great Canyon) Ampharos (Sinister Woods) Azumarill (Mt. Blaze) Butterfree (Howling Forest) Corsola (Far-Off Sea) Ditto (Buried Relic) Dragonite (Mt. Thunder) Exeggutor (Pitfall Valley) Gyarados (Waterfall Pond) Hoothoot (Murky Cave) Lickilicky (Mt. Freeze) Metagross (Silent Chasm) Ninetales (Northern Range) Noctowl (Lapis Cave) Rapidash (Mt. Steel) Shuckle (Southern Cavern) Spinda (Frosty Forest) Wobbuffet (Darknight Relic)

A yellow marker on the map selection screen will indicate that there’s a strong foe available to fight in this location, which can be a shiny as well. Players need to visit specific locations and hope for a shiny encounter– if not, then they can keep repeating the process until a shiny Pokemon spawns. Capturing the shiny Pokemon is another tough battle, as there are no Masterballs in the game to ensure a 100% catch rate. But, getting a Friend Bow will increase the chances of recruiting a defeated Pokemon, whether it’s shiny or not.
