This isn’t the first time the My Favorite Murder team has taken their podcast out into the real world. Kilgariff and Hardstark have gone on international tours to share their true-crime findings. It will be, however, the first conference-like event, where fans of the podcast can interact with each other, as well as their favorite podcast hosts.
The hosts explained a handful of surprises will take place during the weekend, in addition to live My Favorite Murder tapings. Special guests from other podcast hosts on the Exactly Right network are slated to appear, including Jensen & Holes of The Murder Squad and Steven & Sara of The Purrrcast.
The weekend will also host unique merchandise opportunities as well as cocktail hours for Murderinos—the name for My Favorite Murder fans—get to know each other.
Tickets and hotel packages are available for purchase on the event’s website. Attendees can buy tickets alone starting at $249. The tickets admit attendees to the Arlington Theatre for a live My Favorite Murder full episode taping and a Minisode recording, according to details revealed on the podcast. Tickets will also allow access to the cocktail hour and a Murderino art gallery exclusive to the event.
Other additions to the weekend are still unknown. Both hosts have joked about adding Murderino karaoke or bingo to the lineup in recent episodes of the podcast. Tickets that include a meet and greet with Kilgariff and Hardstark are sold out.
Most hotel packages are sold out as well, but two remain. Both the Hotel Californian and Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara are offering ticket packages along with lodging. These hotel packages offer the basic tickets, the Murderino Package, which does not include a meet and greet.
My Favorite Murder first aired in January 2016 and has since grown in popularity. Kilgariff and Hardstark aim to find humor in dark corners of history, while advocating for victims and advising listeners on how to stay safe in scary situations. The pair released a joint memoir titled Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered in May. The book title is the podcast’s classic sign off.
Both women have acting and writing backgrounds. Kilgariff is a comedian known for her role on Mr. Show, and Hardstark is a television host best known for her time on a handful of baking shows like Unique Sweets. They are both television writers.
